Gary A. Cochran

Gary A. Cochran, 85, of New Holland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Gary was born in New Castle, PA, to his late parents, Arnold DeMont Cochran and Madelyn (Patton) Cochran. His beloved wife of 60 years, Alice (Butterworth) Cochran, survives at home.

Gary was a life-long educator. He began his career teaching at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit and then moved to the Administrator role after receiving his master’s degree. He loved his family deeply and enjoyed spending time with each of them, especially his granddaughter Leah. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing with his sons. After retiring to Garden Spot Village, he and Alice enjoyed volunteering their talented green thumbs in the hydroponic gardens there.

Gary was a devout Christian, who loved bible study and worship. He was a previous member of Fairview Village Church of the Nazarene. He thoroughly enjoyed his time in bible study with his friends at Brick Lane Church in Elverson. Currently, Gary was a member of the Community Church of Garden Spot Village.

In addition to his wife at home, Gary is survived by his children, David DeMont Cochran and Daniel L. Cochran and his wife Karen, all of Pottstown. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Leah Cochran.

Gary was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Kathy Cochran Higby, his niece, Christine Higby and his nephew, William Higby.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, beginning at 10:30 AM at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 South Kinzer Avenue, New Holland, PA, with Dr. Peter W. Teague officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday beginning at 9:30 AM until the time of the service. A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Limerick Garden of Memories, Royersford, PA.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland, PA.
