Gene Allen Lowry

Gene Allen Lowry, 88, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at his home. He was the husband of Mary Lowry. His first wife, Rosalie, died in 1985.

Born in New Holland, he was a son of the late Ivan P. and Vernetta Lowry.

He attended Evangelical United Methodist Church his entire life until it became Friendship Church. He served on many boards and committees of the church.

He graduated in 1955 from New Holland High School.

He worked in management at Hollinger Mack for 30 years. He had also served as Mayor of New Holland for 8 years, 1978-1986.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four children: Kristine, Craig, Linda, Maria, four grandchildren: Leif, Kala, Conner, Erin, one great grandchild Hadley, four step children: Sue, Sally, Jean and Jim Martin, 11 step grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five siblings: Evelyn Shue, Robert Lowry, Gladys Lambert, Ray Lowry, Joan Delp Lowry.

His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland. Interment in Evangelical United Methodist Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to CrossNet Ministries, 127 W.
