George A. Seifrit, 66, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 18. He was preceeded in death by his parents William and Mary Seifrit and by his brother William Jr (Billy).
Raised at Millersville Mennonite Children’s Home until the age of 12, he enjoyed a life-long friendship with the Home’s housemother Shirley Charles. In his adult years, George looked forward to his work at Lancaster Leaf Tobacco, where he impressed coworkers with his knowledge of baseball players.
George lived over 40 years on East Chestnut Street, receiving helpful oversight from apartment owner Delores McCarty. Struggling with health issues, George was overjoyed when dear and helpful friend Tony Rosado invited him to live in his house in Manor Township. George totally enjoyed Tony’s home cooked meals and benefitted by Tony’s encouraging conversations.
George was so thankful that, in recent weeks, he was able to resume weekly worship with his friends at Millersville Mennonite Church, where he had so often felt honored to light the worship candles prior to the beginning of service.
