Geraldine Mccarty

Geraldine McCarty, 88, formerly of New Holland died Friday, June 9, 2017 at Evergreen Estates, Lancaster. Her husband, John R. McCarty, preceded her in death in 2009.

Born in Blue Ball, she was the daughter of the late Rollin and Helen (Shirk) Wolfe.

Geraldine graduated from New Holland High School in 1946 and Millersville University in 1950. She then taught at Penn Manor High School for four years before becoming a tutor and substitute teacher in the Eastern Lancaster County School District.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Holland and enjoyed reading, sewing, and going to the beach.

Surviving is a daughter Karen E. married to Douglas R. Roehm, Leola, their daughter Kelly E. married to Paul Price and great-granddaughter Alexis Joy Price and a son John Scott married to Lisa A. (Consylman) McCarty, Lancaster and their son Tyler J. married to Amanda Groff.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Ray A. Wolfe.

The family would like to thank the staff of Evergreen Estates and Grane Hospice for their thoughtful and compassionate care given to Gerry during her final days.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland with the Rev. Dr. Charles Oberkehr officiating. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. Kindly omit flowers.
