Gertrude M. Meissner

Gertrude M. Meissner, 89, of New Holland, died Thursday, November 20, 2014, at Garden Spot Village. She was preceded in death by her husband Friedrich “Fred” Meissner in April, 1998, just five days after they had moved into their apartment at Garden Spot, shortly after retiring.

Born in Lindenheim, Scharnekau, Germany, to parents Wilhelm and Maria Hundt, she is survived by a brother Werner Hundt who lives in Germany. Her sister Charlotte preceded her in death.

Gertrude and her husband came to the U.S. in 1957. She worked in private residences many years as a housekeeper, with her husband as the butler.

Gertrude was a member of the Monterey Chapel, and previously of Malvern Bible Chapel. She enjoyed puzzles, crocheting and knitting.

A service will be held at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, PA 17557, on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 11 a.m. with Chaplain Chet Yoder and Elder Edgar Brightbill officiating. Friends will be received from 10 – 11 a.m. at the Chapel. Interment will be in Ranck’s U.M. Cemetery, New Holland. Kindly omit flowers.
