Glenn A. Dissinger went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, November 2, 2024. He was born to Henry N. and Ella Bair Dissinger of New Holland, PA on March 6, 1937. His father preceded him in death in 1948, when Glenn was eleven years old. His uncles, Roy Bair and Paul Bair provided guidance and support to Glenn and his siblings in their remaining years at home.
Glenn graduated from New Holland High School with the class of 1955 where he actively participated in the sports of soccer, basketball and baseball. After high school he attended a technical school for television repair and worked a short time for Buckwalter TV in New Holland prior to accepting a position in the printing department of the New Holland Machine Company. After 37 years of employment, he retired from a management position with Case New Holland in 1992. In retirement he enjoyed working as a customer service representative in the service department of the New Holland Auto Group.
He was a faithful member of Ranck’s United Methodist Church until his declining health prevented his attendance. Over his lifetime he enjoyed playing sports in rec leagues, swimming, walking and bicycling. In his later years, watching Phillies baseball was a favorite pastime.
Glenn’s greatest love was for his family. He faithfully attended the activities and events in which his children and grandchildren were involved. Through countless cross country meets, baseball, soccer, rugby and volleyball games, horse shows, band concerts, piano and dance recitals, he was an encouraging presence on the sidelines or in the audience. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia A. Ranck Dissinger, a daughter, Shelly D. wife of David Swartz; and two sons, Glenn H. husband of Lou Ann Brubaker Dissinger of New Holland, and Steve M. husband of Susan Swartz Dissinger of East Earl. Eight grandchildren: Logan (Amelia), Ethan (LeeAnna), Jonathan (Caitlin), Callie (TJ), Phil (Phylicia), Emily, Jacob (Lauren), and Kelsie; and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Keeler, and two brothers, Eugene Dissinger and Ronald Dissinger.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:30 pm on Sunday November 10, 2024 at Ranck’s United Methodist Church, 700 Ranck Road New Holland, PA. Pastors Kris Pursel and Ethan Swartz will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service. Private interment will be in Ranck’s Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are by Groff High Funeral Home, New Holland, PA
