Glenn A. Rodgers

Glenn A. “Butch” Rodgers, 81, of New Holland, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015, at the Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center, Narvon.


Born in Blue Ball, Glenn was the son of the late A. Jay and Mary (Harsh) Rodgers.


Glenn was a 1952 graduate of New Holland High School. He then served in the US Air Force for 4 years during the Korean War as a member of the 53rd Air Rescue Squadron in Iceland and the 50th Troop Carrier Squadron in Tennessee. After his military service Glenn worked for the U.S. postal service for over 30 years.

Glenn was a life member of Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church, Blue Ball, where he served as a trustee and church treasurer, a life member of American Legion Post 0662, New Holland, and a charter member of the former Blue Ball Lions Club. In his spare time he enjoyed golf and bowling.


He is survived by three nephews: Ronald R. Rodgers, Scott H. Sweigart and Joel A. Rodgers.


Glenn was preceded in death by his brother A. Jay Rodgers, Jr. and his sisters Nelda Sweigart and Marie Usner.


A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church, 4833 Division Highway, East Earl, PA 17519 with Rev. Dr. Kris Poontajak officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church, address above. The Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be posted at www.groffeckenroth.com.
