Gloria J. Hollinger, 82, formerly of New Holland, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Ware Presbyterian Village. Her loving husband, Donald J. Hollinger, survives. They would have celebrated 62 years of marriage in February.
Born in Farmersville, she was the daughter of the late Charles L. and Mildred M. (Smith) Kreider.
Following graduation from Garden Spot High School, Gloria began a lifetime of work in the New Holland area. She served as a secretary at Blue Ball Elementary School, Weaver & Witwer Co., and was Secretary/Treasurer for Earl Township. Additionally, she had been a pharmacist assistant at Stauffer’s Drug Store.
She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she served as Sunday school secretary. She was also a founder and first president of the New Holland Area Women’s Club.
Gloria enjoyed traveling, especially loving family vacations at the beach and the mountains. She and Donald also made many fond memories visiting different places with friends. She loved playing cards and was especially adept at Bridge and Pinochle, playing in various clubs and with lifelong friends. She and her husband were their daughters’ number one fans for many years at Garden Spot, Millersville, and LVC athletic events.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Kimberly A. Walls, Lititz and Stacey L. Hollinger, Lancaster, a sister Rosene Steffy, Lititz, and two brothers, Clyde J. Kreider, New Holland and Clair R. married to Deb Kreider, Bowmansville. Nine nieces and nephews, along with their children also survive.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Houck.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 221 E. Main St., New Holland, PA 17557 with Rev. Dr. Charles Oberkehr officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gloria’s name may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, address above.
