Grace I. Rhoads

Grace I. (McFarland) Rhoads, 91, of Morgantown, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016 at the Berkshire Center, Reading. She was the loving wife of Richard L. “Murphy” Rhoads, whom preceded her in death in 1998.

Born in Morgantown, she was a daughter of the late Norman G. and Catherine I. (Peck) McFarland.

Grace was a member of Robeson Lutheran Church, Plowville and a member of the former Samuel Fear Chapter #417, Order of the Eastern Star, Honey Brook. She started her professional career as a bookkeeper for PP&L but later owned and operated Murphy’s Place (now the Windmill Restaurant) in Morgantown with her husband. In her spare time she enjoyed visiting Rehoboth Beach and playing with her great-grandchildren.

Grace is survived by her daughter-in-law, Elaine Jane Rhoads of Morgantown, her sister, Doris A. Gring, wife of Eugene, of Morgantown, 3 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard and her son Norman Richard Rhoads, Sr.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Eckenroth Home for Funerals, 209 E. Main St., Terre Hill PA 17581 with Pastor Brian Gring officiating. Viewing will be held Thursday from 10-11 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Caernarvon Cemetery, Morgantown.
