Grace Mae Witmer

Grace M. Witmer, 91, a resident of New Holland, died on Thursday, November 9, 2017.

She was the wife of the late Harry S. Witmer who died in 1988. Born in Krumsville, Berks County, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Florence Kramer Miller.

Grace retired from Garden Spot High School in 1988 after working in the cafeteria for 25 years. Prior to that she had worked at Walter W. Moyer in Ephrata for seven years. She was a member of Bridgeville E.C. Church and most recently had been attending St. Stephen’s in New Holland. She enjoyed baseball and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and enjoyed music and attending concerts.

Surviving is a son Larry husband of Judy Witmer of Merrick, NY; a daughter, Linda wife of Richard Thompson of Monrovia, MD; six grandchildren Melanie Thompson Brevis wife of Zachariah of Lafayette, LA, Crystal Thompson of Washington, DC, Derrick husband of Carrie Thompson of Stephens City, VA, Rachel Witmer wife of Mitch Shapiro of Tappan, NY, Valerie Thompson Roebuck wife of Brandon of New Windsor, MD, and Liza Witmer of NYC, NY; eight great grandchildren, Grace Thompson, Josiah Brevis, Faith Thompson, Kirby Roebuck, Jeremiah Thompson, Hadley Brevis, Moses Shapiro, and Eamon Roebuck; and one sister, Eleanor Marello of Norristown, PA. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Kohr and Anna Lou Miller, and by five brothers, Curtis, Carl, Charles, Jr., and Willard Miller and by an infant brother.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 14, at 10:00 A.M. at the Beck Funeral Home, 315 E. Main St., New Holland, PA with the Rev. Dr. Timothy Witmer officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment in the Goodville Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Memorial Fund at Bridgeville E.C. Church, 5971 Division Hwy, Narvon, PA 17555.
