H. Weaver Reitz, 104, of Willow Street, passed away on April 17, 2024 after a short stay at Maple Farm.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Harry W. and Elizabeth R. (Diffenbach) Reitz.
He was the husband of the late Helen Rudy (Nissley) Reitz, with whom he married on October 8, 1942 and shared 75 years of marriage until her passing on February 13, 2018.
He was a member of Byerland Mennonite Church. He was a farmer for most of his life and was a toy pattern designer for the former Hubley Toys in his earlier years. He had produced 13,915 tokens with John 3:16 on them in his lifetime and prepared 244 comfort tops for sewing in the last four years, completing his last one on March 24, 2024 and was currently working on his 245th one.
Weaver is survived by his children, Melvin N. husband of Pauline Hess Reitz of Lancaster; four daughters, Lois N. wife of Kenneth Miller of Mifflintown, Martha N. wife of Dale Nauman of Richland, Esther N. wife of Donald Eshleman of Pequea, Marian N. wife of Robert Harnish of Lancaster, and foster daughter Sebera wife of Julio Rivera; 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and his brother, Clair D. Reitz of Gainesville, FL.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Miriam D. Reitz, Leroy D. Reitz and Paul D. Reitz.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Byerland Mennonite Church, 931 Byerland Church Road, Willow Street, PA with Pastors Joe Garber, Jay Hess, Leon Martin, and Matt Bye officiating. There will be a viewing held for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday and on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the church. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christian Aid Ministries, 2412 Division Highway, Ephrata, PA 17522.
Groff High Funeral Home in New Holland is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
