Harley L. Gordner

Harley L. Gordner, 80, of Narvon, died Saturday, May 13, 2017 while at his hunting camp near Pine Grove. His wife of 57 years, Phyllis L. (Puckley) Gordner, survives.

Born in Hyde Park, Berks Co., he was the son of the late Charles Henry and Marcella (Sweitzer) Gordner.

Harley was employed as a meat cutter at various stores in Berks and Lancaster Counties.

He was a member of Immanuel Free Reformed Church where he served as a deacon for 17 years. He had a servant’s heart and devoted much of his time to helping and caring for others. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and loved sitting on the porch of his hunting cabin.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children: Felicia married to Ronald Leaman, Mohnton; Wesley Gordner, Narvon; Harley, Jr. married to Melody Gordner, Denver; Suzy married to Keith Diem, Reamstown; Fred married to Melissa Gordner, Denver; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia Bauder, Exeter.

He was preceded in death by a brother Charles W. Gordner and a sister Betty Rea.

His funeral will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Eckenroth Home for Funerals, 209 E. Main St., Terre Hill with Pastor William Einwechter officiating. Interment will be in Laureldale Cemetery. Friends may call at Eckenroth’s on Friday from 9 – 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Harley’s memory may be made to your favorite charity.
