Harold Groff

Harold Groff, Jr., 77, of Denver, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at his residence. He was the loving husband of Miriam R. (Brubaker) Groff, who preceded him in death in 2014, and with whom he shared over 55 years of marriage.


Born in Stevens, PA, he was a son of the late Harold W. and Mary Jane (Gentzler) Groff.


Harold was a member of Middle Creek Church of the Brethren. He worked as a carpenter for Harold W. Groff Building and Kalas Manufacturing. In his spare time he enjoyed collecting John Deer tractors, listening to Christian music, animals, reading Amish books, and putting together models and puzzles.


Harold is survived by 5 children: Lamar Groff, husband of Kim (Shrock), of Ephrata, James Groff, husband of Christel (Beam), of Denver, Joyce Ward, wife of Stanley, of Lititz, Donna Pittman, wife of Charles, of New Holland, and Julie Alexander, wife of Wayland, of Cleona; 7 siblings: Richard Groff, husband of Mildred, of Lititz, Martha Jane Burkholder, wife of Richard, of Stevens, Larry Groff, husband of Lucille, of Ephrata, Donald Groff, husband of Arlene, of Stevens, Kenneth Groff, husband of Irene, of Stevens, Marvin Groff, husband of Anna Lois, of Stevens, and Paul Groff, husband of Laverne, of Stevens; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his brother Robert, and his sister-in-law Marion.


Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 10 AM at the Middle Creek Church of the Brethren, 351 W. Middle Creek Rd., Lititz PA 17543 with Pastors J. Eric Brubaker and H. Todd Bomberger officiating. Interment will follow at Martindale Mennonite Church Cemetery, Lancaster Conference. Viewings will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 6-8 PM at Eckenroth Home for Funerals, 209 E. Main St., Terre Hill PA 17581 and on Wednesday from 9-10 AM at the church prior to services. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice and Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604. The family would like to thank Hospice and Community Care for their loving support during Harold’s illness and the ministry team at Middle Creek Church of the Brethren.
