Harold Glenn Shirk

Harold Glenn Shirk, 88, of Gordonville, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at home. Harold was born in Churchtown to his late parents, Raymond and Anna (Horning) Shirk. His wife, Ethel Mae (Haas) Shirk, passed away on January 12, 2008.

Harold worked his career on the assembly line at Case New Holland. He also enjoyed boarding, training and showing horses, for which he has many awards. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

Harold is survived by his children, Doug Shirk, of Shillington, Randy Shirk, of Morgantown, and Steve Shirk and his companion Tammy Williams, of New Holland, and by his companion, Patricia Hiester, of Gordonville. In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren, Gary Paul Shirk, Kerry Shirk, Randy Anthony Shirk and his wife Courtney, and one great grandchild, Jace Shirk. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Harold was predeceased by a son, Gary Shirk, and his siblings, Earl Shirk, Elam Shirk, Eugene Shirk, Leon Shirk, Betty Tshudy, Barbara Beam, Arlene Rathman, and Anna Mae Wenrich.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM at Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 West Main Street, New Holland, with Pastor Jonathan Yoder officiating. A viewing will take place at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. The family requests that those in attendance dress casually. Interment will occur immediately following the funeral in Churchtown United Methodist Church Cemetery, Churchtown.

The family would like to thank Harold’s nephew, Jeffrey Gehman, for taking such good care of his uncle Harold and for assisting with Pat’s care.
