Harry E. Frankhouser

Happy and satisfied with the life he lived, Harry “Bud” Frankhouser, 103, passed away at Maple Farm Nursing Center on April 6, after a brief illness. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Maime Cauller Frankhouser, and his sister, Catherine Frankhouser Kulp. He grew up on a farm near Churchtown, graduated from New Holland High School and lived most of his life near Fivepointville and in Terre Hill before moving five years ago to Garden Spot Village in New Holland.

As a child, Bud was fascinated by airplanes, which led him to military service and a lifelong career as an airplane mechanic in the U S Air Force and the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. Bud served his community through the Odd Fellows, Lions Club, Terre Hill Park and St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Terre Hill.

Bud is survived by Ruby Lorish Frankhouser, his wife of 74 years. She was the love of his life, and together they traveled by camper sometimes with friends and relatives locally and throughout the continental United States. Bud and Ruby spent many winters in Florida where they expanded their treasured collection of friends. Bud also loved get-togethers in the mountains of Lycoming County with his family, friends, relatives and fellow members of the East End hunting camp.

In addition to his wife, Bud is survived by his children Ronald G Frankhouser; David T. Frankhouser, husband of Kim; Janet Frankhouser Keiper, wife of Steve. He is also survived by three grandsons: Harrison, Ryan and Kyle Frankhouser. Bud enjoyed knowing that all his children and grandchildren lived nearby in the Lancaster area.

A memorial service will be held at Garden Spot Village, 433 S Kinzer Avenue, New Holland PA at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 12. Food and fellowship will follow the service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bud’s memory to the Garden Spot Lions Club, PO Box 26, Bowmansville, PA 17507.
