Harry E. “Henny” Myers, 94, of 2499 Zerbe Rd., Narvon, formerly of Blue Ball, died Friday, May 31, 2013 at Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center. His wife, Alverta M. (Kindt) Myers survives. They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in November.
Born in Strasburg, he was the son of the late Clarence and Meta (Welk) Myers.
Henny retired in 1988 after over 50 years of service as a truck driver for Fleur De Lait. He was inducted into the Trucker Hall of Fame for driving 1 million accident-free miles.
A member of St. Stephen United Church of Christ, he also held memberships in the Howell Lodge #405, F. & A. M., Honey Brook and the Rajah Shrine. He enjoyed his cars and his truck.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two children: Kenneth married to Linda (Martin) Myers, Ephrata and Kay married to Vincent Paparo, New Holland; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and three step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister Erma Robinson and brothers Leon Myers and Glenn Myers.
Private graveside services will be held at St. Stephen United Church of Christ Cemetery. The Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be posted on our website, www.groffeckenroth.com.
