Harry L. Shaub, Jr., 93, formerly of Akron, passed away at Ephrata Manor on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
He was the husband of the late Joan Zimmerman Shaub who passed away in 2022, following 65 years of marriage. Born in New Holland, he was the son of the late Harry L., Sr. and Hilda Burkey Shaub.
Harry graduated from New Holland High School and remained active in the New Holland High School Alumni Association for many years. He worked in the Telecommunications industry his entire life and retired from D & E Telephone. Prior to that he had worked at the former Enterprise Telephone in New Holland. He was a member of Bethany U.C.C. in Ephrata and had volunteered in many leadership positions over the years. Harry served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during the Korean Conflict where he was stationed in Germany. He was a member and past president of the Akron Lions Club, and was a 20 year member of the Ephrata School board. He enjoyed spending time at a family cottage in Rehoboth Beach and golfing with his friends.
Surviving are three children, Larry S. husband of Cynthia (Paul) Shaub of Mohnton, Linda S. wife of Stephen Lantaff of Orefield, and Lori L. Royer of Ephrata; and five grandchildren, Chad Royer, Katie Lantaff, Korey Lantaff, Aaron Shaub and Caleb Shaub. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Randy Royer and by sisters, Doris Boose and Mary Jane Schrock.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 21, at 11:00 A.M. at Bethany U.C.C., 140 E. Main St, Ephrata, PA with the Rev. Katie Jackson officiating. Interment in St. Stephens Cemetery, New Holland, PA. A Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Benevolent Fund of the U.C.C. Homes care of Ephrata Manor, 99 Bethany Road, Ephrata, PA 17522.
