Harvey N. Newswanger

Harvey N. Newswanger, 89, of Churchtown, passed away after a short illness on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the home of his daughter Emma and her husband Elam Zimmerman, in Ephrata.

Born in New Holland to the late Paul S. and Rebecca W. (Nolt) Newswanger, he was the husband of Ella F. (Sauder) Newswanger, who passed away on August 11, 2024. Together, they shared 66 years of marriage.

Harvey was a member of Churchtown Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference) and was a farmer until retirement. He then began working for Weaverline Corporation.

He is survived by his children, Edith wife of Clarence Martin of Charles City, IA, Lester husband of Martha (Martin) Newswanger of Shippensburg, Harvey, Jr. husband of Norma (Hoover) Newswanger of Shippensburg, Norma wife of Earl Newswanger of Owen, WI, Allen husband of Susie (Burkholder) Newswanger of Narvon, Ella wife of Allen Hurst of Clarksburg, MO, Glenn Newswanger of Narvon, Mary wife of Steven Leid of Elkton, KY, Arlene wife of Carl Hoover of Ionia, IA and Emma wife of Elam Zimmerman of Ephrata. Also surviving are 78 grandchildren, 165 great grandchildren, five brothers, Aaron Newswanger of New Holland, Levi Newswanger of TN, Ivan Newswanger of Woodbury, PA, Allen Newswanger of New Holland and David Newswanger of New Holland and sisters, Anna wife of the late Ammon Martin of Fairmount Homes and Mary wife of the late Ira Nolt of Ephrata.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brother Paul Newswanger and a sister Rebecca Nolt, two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 9:30 AM at Churchtown Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference), 2207 Main Street, Narvon, PA 17555 with Bishop Marvin Nolt officiating. Burial in the adjoining church cemetery. A Viewing will be held at the late home, 344 Shirktown Road, Narvon PA 17555 on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
