Harvey W. Witwer

Harvey W. Witwer, 89, of 420 Loma Paseo Dr., The Villages, FL, formerly of Elverson, died Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Tel Hai Retirement Community. Born in Elverson, he was the son of the late H. Stanley and Mabel (McGowan) Witwer. He was married 22 years in May to Frances (Sweigert) Werner Witwer. Harvey owned and operated H.S. Witwer car dealership in Elverson for many years retiring in 1985. He was a life member of the Morgantown American Legion post 537 and a member of the Rajah Shrine. He enjoyed traveling and photography. During WWII he served in the US Navy as a Lieutenant and later served 20 years in the reserves. Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Kristen Retter of New Hampshire, and Steven Witwer of Florida; two step sons, Bradley "Tim", married to Elaine Werner of ME, and Jeffrey, married to Lisa Werner of Ephrata; five step grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary, married to Jack Muhlenberg of Morgantown, and Rosabelle, married to Rogers Bender of Glenmoore. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 11 am the Eckenroth Home for Funerals, 209 E. Main St., Terre Hill with the Reverend Robert Kramer officiating. Interment will be in the Center Union Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Wed. from 10-11 am the Funeral Home.
