Hazel Smallwood Williams

Hazel Smallwood Williams, 99, of Garden Spot Village, New Holland, PA., died November 29, 2014 of natural causes. Mrs. Williams is survived by her two daughters, Judith Enns of San Diego, CA, and Janice Nielson, of Howard, Ohio, and a son, Carlton Williams, of Braintree, MA, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Williams served faithfully as a pastor’s wife alongside her husband, Chester M. Williams, now deceased, for 60 years in Pennsylvania Churches of the Nazarene in Birdsboro, York, Norristown, Chester, Bethlehem, Bristol, Reading, Royersford and Lancaster, Wilmington, DE and Camden, NJ. Active throughout her entire fruitful life in church ministries, Mrs. Williams taught Sunday School, served many years as President of the Philadelphia District Nazarene International Missionary Society, and accompanied Rev. Williams in ministries to senior citizens and anyone in need of pastoral care. Her joy and privilege was to entertain visiting missionaries, pastors, singers and college presidents in their welcoming home.

She was the oldest of three daughters born in Mason Springs, MD to Myrtle and Bernard Smallwood. After selling the family farm Mrs. Smallwood moved her three children to Indian Head, MD. where they graduated from high school. Later the girls moved to Washington, D.C, and began their lives as working adults. For several years Mrs. Williams worked for the National Geographic Society where she thrived on lectures by Amelia Earhart and other adventurers.

Mrs. Williams was a lifelong follower of Jesus Christ, gracious and generous hostess, loving Mother, friend and confidant to all who sought her wise counsel. Her smile was radiant and deep faith unshakeable.
