Hilda R. Knox, 75, of 100 Brimmer Ave., New Holland, went home with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at Hospice & Community Care following a lengthy illness. She is survived by her husband Joseph C. Knox, Jr., with whom she shared 52 years of marriage.
Born in Millville, NJ, she was the daughter of the late William and Hilda (Pleasanton) Gardner.
A New Holland resident for 50 years, she was a crossing guard for New Holland Elementary for over ten years and formerly worked at Yolanda’s Restaurant.
Hilda was a member of the Gospel Tabernacle Church, where she had served as Sunday School Supt., and previously helped in the kitchen and with the youth groups. She collected tea pots and owl items.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Keith A. Knox, Austin, TX, Ellen M. McComsey, Elizabethtown, Wendy B. Martzall, New Holland, and Corey A. Knox, Ephrata; five grandchildren; and her brothers, William Gardner, Newtown, PA, and Elwood Gardner, Brunnerville.
She was preceded in death by a brother Robert Gardner.
Funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 10, at 1 p.m. at Gospel Tabernacle Church, 895 Red Hill Road, Narvon, with Pastor Dennis Moyer officiating. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Ephrata. Friends may call on Friday at the church from Noon until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Dr., Lancaster, PA 17603.
