Horace M. Mast

Horace M. Mast, 88, of 219 Mill Rd., Morgantown, died Monday, August 26, 2013 at home. His wife, Bertha F. (Martin) Mast, survives. They had observed their 66th wedding anniversary on May 24.

Born in Morgantown, he was the son of the late Samuel K. and Minnie Ellen (Bewley) Mast.

Horace graduated in 1943 from Oley Valley High School and was a self-employed carpenter.

He was a member of Conestoga Mennonite Church where he formerly served as a trustee. He also was a former member of the Packard Club and the Carnival Glass Club and an avid Phillies fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: J. Lemar married to Lois Ann (Zook) Mast, Morgantown; Roger D. married to Linda (Huyett) Mast, Denver; Sandra E. Good, New Holland; seven grandchildren: Roger Mast, Jr., Kathy Mast McClure, Stephanie M. Good, Elizabeth Mast Petersheim, Daniel Zook Mast, Leigh Ann Mast, and Lisa M. Good; five great grandchildren; and a sister Marge Steffen, Lititz.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, W. Richard Good and six siblings: Ralph Mast, Ray Mast, Daniel Mast, Edith Mast, Art Mast and Melvin Mast.

His funeral will be held on Friday, August 30 at 10:00 a.m. at Conestoga Mennonite Church, 2779 Main St., Morgantown with Pastor Robert Petersheim officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Elverson. A viewing will be held at Conestoga Mennonite Church on Thursday from 6 – 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 – 10 a.m. Kindly omit flowers.
