Howard L. Sweigart

Howard L. Sweigart, Jr., 82, of 340 E. Main St., New Holland, died Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nelda P. (Rodgers) Sweigart. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Thelma W. (White) and Howard L. Sweigart, Sr. Howard served in the Army during the Korean War and was last employed at Lukens Steel as a truck driver retiring in 1995. He was a member of Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church and the Charles E. Ludwig Post #7362, Veterans of Foreign Wars, New Holland. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Ronald R. married to Jo Ann Rodgers, Wilson Boro and Scott H. married to Christine Sweigart, East Earl; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother Richard W. married to Gloria Sweigart, Akron and a sister Shirley Sweigart, Honey Brook. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 25 at 2 PM at the Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church, 4833 Division Hwy., East Earl, PA 17519 with the Rev. Dr. Kris Poontajak officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Friends will be received at the church on Saturday from 1 – 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church for the Christian Education Wing, at the address above.
