Ira H. Martin, 81, of 158 Spook Lane, East Earl died Friday, May 31, 2013 at his home. His wife, Anna Mary (Huber) Martin survives.


Born in Fivepointville, he was the son of the late Henry W. and Leah (Horning) Martin.


He was a farmer and a member of Bowmansville Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children: Leroy married to Rose Marie (Hoover) Martin, Colby, WI; Ruth married to James Hoover, Lebanon; Lester married to Mary (Kurtz) Martin, Loyal, WI; Ira Lamar married to Gladys (Weaver) Martin, Stratford, WI; Marvin married to Rosanna (Brubacker) Martin, Colby, WI; Alvin married to Sarah (Kurtz) Martin, Unity, WI; 57 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; six siblings: H. Moses married to Anna Martin, Lititz; Charles married to (Laura) Martin, Bethel; Paul married to Mildred Martin, Pine Grove; Alvin married to Eva Martin, Rutledge, MO; Leah married to Levi Zimmerman, Rutledge, MO; and Esther married to David High, Denver.


He was preceded in death by a son, Paul whose widow, Martha (Shirk), remarried Lester O. Martin, Jr. of Fredericksburg. Also preceding him in death are three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.


His funeral will be held on Thursday, June 6 at 9 a.m. at his late home with further services at 9:30 a.m. at Bowmansville Mennonite Church with Bishop Leon Zimmerman, Bishop Amos Martin, John Martin, Leon Zimmerman, and Marlin Lauver officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at his late home on Wednesday from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Kindly omit flowers. The Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill is in charge of arrangements.
