Ivan N. Hoover

Ivan N. Hoover, 86, of Narvon, PA, died on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Reading Hospital and Medical Center. Ivan was born in West Earl Twp. to the late Levi and Ellen (Newswanger) Hoover. He was the husband of Esther Z. (Shirk) Hoover for 64 years of marriage until her death on July 13, 2025.

Ivan was a farmer and mechanic and a member of the Churchtown Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference).

Ivan is survived by his nine children, Irene, wife of David Eberly, Vernon, husband of Mary Ella (Zimmerman) Hoover, Edward, husband of Lucy (Eberly) Hoover, Esther, wife of Lowell Zimmerman, Mary Hoover and Miriam Hoover, all of Dundee, NY, Lloyd Stauffer, husband of the late Florence (Hoover) Stauffer, of New Holland, Anna Hoover, Joseph, husband of Esther Mae (Zimmerman) Hoover and Vera, wife of Nelson Lee Hoover, all of Narvon. He is also survived by forty-four grandchildren and seventy great grandchildren, and two sisters, Ada Hoover and Emma Hoover, both of New Holland.

In addition to his parents, Ivan was preceded in death by a daughter, Florence, a great grandson, Nathan Zimmerman, three sisters and four brothers.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, beginning at 9:30 AM, at Churchtown Old Order Mennonite Church, 2207 Main Street, Narvon, PA. Viewings will be held at the late home, 2590 Hammertown Road, Narvon, PA, on Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Burial will occur in the adjoining church cemetery.
