Ivan Stone, Jr."Stonie", 91, of New Holland, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, August 30, 2013 after a brief illness.
Born in Groffdale, PA, he was the son of the late Ivan H. and Florence (Heuyard) Stone. He celebrated 60 years of marriage on May 16 to Grace (Heckel) Stone.
In his early years Ivan worked for New Holland Machine Co. and retired in 1991 from Conestoga Wood Products in East Earl after 12 years of service.
He was a member of Pilgrim Bible Church where he was a board member, served as a deacon and as an usher. He was the last charter member of the Jordan Run Hunting Camp in Potter Co. During WWII he served in the US Army Air Force as a medic lab technician. He was also a member of the New Holland American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, tennis, gardening, woodworking, loved his grandchildren, and was an avid Phillies fan.
Surviving in addition to his wife are nine children, Jane Johnson, of New Holland, Greg Stone of Philadelphia, Faith (Patrick )Pickel of Goodville, Vickie, (Steve) Supplee of New Holland, Claudette,(Scott )Burkhart of East Earl, Matthew D. Stone of Narvon, Jeffrey I. (Theresa) Stone of Wittmann, AZ, Dorcas (Steve) Ibach of Lititz, and Rebekah (Kirk) Fox of Reinholds, 14 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; two great grandchildren; seven sisters, Marian Miller of New Holland, Kathryn Frey of Denver, Mary Byers of New Holland, Mabel Weaver of Lititz, Charlotte Reeser of New Holland, Hazel Spence of Mt. Joy, and Connie, married to Carl Adams of Blue Ball; and a brother, Kenneth Stone of New Holland.
Preceding him in death are his first wife, Nettie (Brendle) Stone, an infant son, Jack B. Stone; a brother, Ralph Stone; and two sisters, Evelyn Weaver, and Janet Stover.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 10 am at Pilgrim Bible Church, 5367 Paes Road, New Holland, with the Reverend Norman Griess officiating. Interment will follow at the Zeltenreich Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 3 from 6-8 pm at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland and on Wednesday, Sept. 4 from 9-10 am at the Church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
