Jacob L. Smucker, 71, of Narvon, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Churchtown, he was the son of the late Elmer and Fannie Smucker. He was the loving husband of Barbara F. (Stoltzfus) Smucker, with whom he would have shared 47 years of marriage this month.
Jacob was a man of strong faith and a devoted husband, father, uncle, and friend.
In his earlier years, Jacob farmed in Churchtown but spent the majority of his working life in masonry. He was also a talented mandolin and guitar player, well known for his love of bluegrass and making music. He formed a band, Cousin Jake and Friends, in the early 2000s and the group recorded four albums and shared their music with many throughout the years.
He was one of eleven children and held a deep appreciation for his family.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children, Michael Smucker (Anne), Stephen Smucker (Jennifer), Marvin Smucker (Renee), Susan Shawaryn (Matthew), and J. Smucker (Ali); his daughter-in-law, Rebecca Smucker (Colin West); and 17 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Nathan Smucker.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
