James T. Dorsey

James T. Dorsey, 63, of 227 Orlon Street, New Holland, died Thursday, August 2, 2012, at Ephrata Community Hospital. He is survived by his wife Barbara A. (Hupp) Dorsey to whom he would have been married 35 years on Oct. 22.

Born in Ephrata, he was the son of the late Walter F. and Mabel (Rathman) Dorsey.

He was a member of Grace E.C. Church, Ephrata, and volunteered as New Holland Fire Police. He enjoyed trains, wrestling, bowling, NASCAR and polar bears.

James had done custodial work for Lancaster Labs from 1998 to 2008 and also at Garden Spot High School for sixteen years.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his dogs, Buffy and Noel; his brother Robert L. Dorsey, Ephrata, his sister Norma RathmanWeaver, West Jefferson, NC, a niece Kimberley Howe, Ohio, and a nephew Kevin Howe, West Jefferson, NC.

He was preceded in death by a sister Claire Dorsey in 2009.

His funeral will be held on Monday, Aug. 6, at 10 a.m. at the Beck Funeral Home, 315 East Main Street, New Holland, with Pastor Jeff Martin officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata. Viewing will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 – 4 p.m. and on Monday from 9 – 10 a.m. Flowers will be received or memorial donations in honor of James may be made to Humane League of Lancaster County, 2195 Lincoln Hwy.
