Jim Martin, 68, of Gordonville, PA, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
He was a compassionate man, with a big heart, who always put the needs of others before his own. If there was something that needed to be done, he was always willing to lend a helping hand. He married the love of his life Judy (Myer) Martin, and they would have celebrated 50 years together this August. They were planning on celebrating their anniversary in Ireland, but instead Jim will be celebrating in Heaven with Jesus.
Jim and Judy shared their love for travel, motorcycle riding, camping with friends and rooting for the Steelers together. They were blessed with four children, two of which Jim reunited with in Heaven.
He is survived by a son, Brandon husband of Judy (Ruiz) of New Holland, and a daughter Jill wife of Curtis Waltman, of East Earl. Together they have five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He is also survived by brother Wayne husband of (Glenda) Martin, and Michael husband of (Linda) Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Rev. Irvin Martin and Irene (Smoker) Martin, sons Jay and Justin Martin and a granddaughter Amber Martin.
After graduating from Pequea Valley in 1974, Jim started working at Power Pro Equipment Co. in New Holland the following year. He retired prematurely because of his illness in March of this year. Jim loved his job and would have celebrated 50 years with the company next June. One thing he valued most about his job was the many customers he met over the years. Jim loved people and could start a conversation with anyone. He was a faithful member of Christian Fellowship Church in New Holland where He served faithfully in many positions including Elder, Youth leader and he currently served on the mission committee. He was a man who lived out his faith and used his illness to share his testimony with everyone he met. He had a heart for young people, and one of his greatest joys was to see them grow in their faith and walk with the Lord. If you knew Jim, then you knew of his love of bicycle riding. Can't you just picture him riding on the streets of gold smiling and pain free?
