James Lee Newswanger

James Lee Newswanger, 81, of Ephrata, passed away at home on Sunday, December 22, 2024, following a brief illness.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Clara Z. (Seibel) Newswanger. Born in Blue Ball, he was the son of the late George and Edna Z. (Weaver) Newswanger.

James was an owner-operator truck driver for many years for Martin Limestone and most recently had worked for Four Way Auto and Truck Sales. He was a member of Valley View Mennonite Church, Stevens, PA.

Surviving besides his wife are six children: Wesley, husband of Wilma (Good) Newswanger of Denver; Anne, wife of Kevin E. Nolt of Grove City; James "Jim," husband of Rachel (Baer) Newswanger of Carpenter, WY; Michael, husband of Laura (Martin) Newswanger of Barto, PA; Shannon, husband of Rebecca (Miller) Newswanger of Weston, ID; and Janelle, wife of Arlin Sensenig of Denver; a son-in-law, LaVern Hochstedler of Reinholds; 39 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and five siblings: Myron, husband of Martha Ann (Snyder) Newswanger of Ephrata; Mary, wife of Melvin M. Zimmerman of Denver; Edna Fay, wife of Floyd K. Martin of Vanderhoof, BC; Anne wife of Caleb Stauffer, Jr., of Lebanon; and Aaron, husband of Shirley (Weaver) Newswanger of Blue Ball. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Hochstedler, and a granddaughter, Shalom Newswanger.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 30, at 10:00 A.M. at Valley View Mennonite Church, 194 Gockley Road, Stevens, PA. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. Viewings will be held at the church on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Arrangements by the Groff High Funeral Home, New Holland, PA
