James R. Getz

James R. Getz, Sr., 73, of Reading, died peacefully Wednesday, August 13, 2014.

Born in Newton, NJ he was the son of Robert and Pauline (Lambert) Getz. He would have been married 41 years on August 21 to Rochelle (Rhine) Getz.

James worked as a machinist for Force Manufacturing in Oaks, PA but most recently in the Hardware department of Sears on Exeter.

He attended Hopewell Christian Fellowship and was a juried member of the Reading Berks Chapter of the Guild of Craftsman. He was also associated with America’s Keswick in Whiting, NJ for the last 20 years.

He enjoyed wood turning at craft shows with his wife, golfing especially with his son and grandsons, and playing guitar. He was also an avid student of the Bible.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Justine Gaskin of Huntingdon, TN; a son, James, Jr., married to Sarah (Mallery) Getz of Philadelphia; four grandsons; and a great granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 19 at 2 pm at Hopewell Christian Fellowship, 2286 Hopewell Road, Elverson, PA 19520 with the Reverend Mark B. Kraybill officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held on Tuesday from 1-2 pm at the Church.
