James C. Riale, 72, of New Holland, passed away on Monday, June 13, at Hospice of Mt. Joy. He was the loving husband of Joan A. (Lukaszewski) Riale for 49 years.
He was born in Gum Tree, Chester County, PA on November 30, 1943, the son of the late Lawrence P. and Helena G. (Null) Riale.
Jim graduated from Octorara High School and St. Joseph’s University, with a B. S. in Business Administration.
He worked 49 years as a Customer Service Representative in major accounts at Arcelor Mittal Steel Co., formerly Lukens Steel Co. and also for Bethlehem Steel. He was past president of the Lukens Athletic Association and was also involved in bowling, golf, and other athletic events.
Jim was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, golfing, bowling, and was a fan of Penn State football, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Philadelphia Phillies. He also loved Monday morning quarterbacking with his nephew in California.
He was a proud U. S. Veteran, who served our country with basic training at Fort Gordon. He also served as Section Chief in the Payroll Dept. at Fort Benning, Georgia.
In addition to his loving wife, Jim is survived by a nephew, Vincent Riale, married to Hilda, of Collegeville, PA, nephew Mark Pettit, married to Melissa of Camarillo, CA. nephew David Pettit, married to Lori of Shavertown, PA nephew Matthew Pettit, married to Amy of Lenhartsville, PA.
Jim was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church and for many years attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
In addition to his many hobbies he was involved in, Jim also loved traveling to Florida, California and various Caribbean Islands with his wife. He also enjoyed puttering in the garden, taking walks, playing Pinochle, and going out to eat with their friends.
The viewing will be held at Beck Funeral Home, 315 E. Main St., New Holland on Friday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 150 Water St., New Holland. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
