Janet Elene Martin

Janet E. Martin, 94, a resident of Keystone Villa, Ephrata, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.

She was the wife of the late Clayton S. Martin who died in 1983. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Walter R. and Kathryn M. Peterman Heiss.

Janet was a graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School class of 1947 and the Philadelphia Modeling and Charm School. She had been the owner of the former Elene’s School of Charm and Self Improvement in Lancaster. Janet was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Willow Street, where she had been the organist and choir director for 15 years. She enjoyed music and ballroom dancing.

Surviving are two step sons, Rodger Martin of Hancock, NH, and E. David Martin of Brownstown; three step daughters, Cherry wife of Parker Smith of Bethany Beach, DE, Sheila Brownell of Ephrata, and Joy Birkens of Eastbourne, England; a sister, Loris H. Harrison of Millersville; 11 step grandchildren and numerous step great and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a step daughter, Sylvia Britton and by sisters, Shirley Becker and June Firestone.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 1, at 11:30 A.M. at the Beck Funeral Home, 315 E. Main St., New Holland, PA. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment in St. Stephen’s Reformed Cemetery.
