Janet H. Keefer

April 26, 1942 — June 4, 2025

Janet H. Keefer

Janet Herr Keefer went to be with her heavenly father on June 4, 2025; she was 83 years old. She was born in Lancaster, PA, to the late Jacob B. and Erma Mae Siegrist. She was the oldest of 12 children.

Janet and her husband, Jim, were married in October 1961. They shared a marriage filled with commitment and unconditional love, which continues to be an example for their family. They attended Christian Fellowship Church in New Holland. Janet had a quiet, steadfast faith, putting Jesus first in her life.

Her priority was to love and care for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest treasure.

Family beach vacations to Delaware and North Carolina as well as annual family reunions were some of her most cherished times. She spent many days enjoying her screened-in porch overlooking Lancaster County farmland. During the holidays, Janet was famous for her Christmas cookies, that she joyfully shared.

She had a servant’s heart, exemplified through her friends, church, work, and—most importantly—her family. Janet will be greatly missed, and her legacy of love will continue.

She is survived by her loving husband, James (Jim) R. Keefer. Son Jeffrey Keefer and his wife Jennifer, granddaughter Alyssa Murray and her husband Brandon (their sons James and Lukas) and granddaughter Jacqueline Wile and her husband Kevin (their daughters Hailey and Quinn)

Son Jerry Keefer and his wife Kimberly, grandsons Tucker Keefer & fiancée Kate (their son River), Koty Keefer, and Caden Keefer & fiancée Carly

Daughter Julie Wells and her husband Kristopher, grandsons Austin Wells and Hunter Wells

She will be deeply missed by her siblings:

Joanne Neff (husband Les), Dave Siegrist (wife Eva), Irv Hershey (husband of Mim), Lucy Groff (husband Lynn), Mary Haldeman (husband Don), Dan Siegrist (wife Regina), Carole Siegrist (wife of Gene), Clair Siegrist (wife Marilyn), and Larry Siegrist (wife Leslie). She will also be missed by her husband’s siblings as well as many nieces and nephews who loved her.

Janet was welcomed into heaven by her infant daughter Dawn J. Keefer; sisters Mim Hershey and Marti Rill (husband Morris); and brothers Bob Siegrist, Gene Siegrist, and infant brother.

Family and friends will be welcomed by Janet’s family at Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster, PA, on Monday, June 16, 2025, at 3:00 PM, with the memorial service at 4:00 PM.

Interment will be private.

Groff High Funeral Home in New Holland is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
