Jean E. Bevan

Jean E. Bevan, 93, of 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, died Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Garden Spot Village. Her husband, William H. Bevan, preceded her in death in 1998.

Born in Bart Twp., she was the daughter of the late Earle and Mary (Bair) Emery.

Jean was a Registered Nurse, working for 25 years at the former Pennwalt Corp. in Philadelphia as an Occupational Health Nurse. She also served in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II.

She was a former member of St. Stephen Reformed Church, New Holland and was a volunteer at Garden Spot Village and the ELANCO Library. She enjoyed walking her dog Bandit, reading, word puzzles, enjoyed all music. She was close with friends at Garden Spot Village and her niece Pattie.

Surviving is a niece, Patricia married to Paul Kroekel, New Holland, great nieces Nancy Read, Holly Good, Wendy Gordon, and six great great nieces and nephew.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, PA 17557 with Chaplain Chester Yoder officiating. Private interment will be in Middle Octorara Cemetery, Quarryville. The family will receive friends at the chapel on Friday from 10 – 11 a.m. If desired, memorials may be sent to the Benevolent Fund of Garden Spot Village, address above.
