Jean E. Tryson, 95, of Clematis Court, New Holland, died Friday, January 10, 2014 at her home.
Born in West Decatur, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd W. and Rosa (Mease) Peters. She was married for 69 years to Francis V. "Frank" Tryson, who died in September of 2010.
Jean graduated from Conshohocken High School in 1936. She worked as a homemaker while her children were young and when they were older she worked for about 15 years as a secretary for the Montgomery County (PA) Intermediate Unit.
She was a long time member of the Haws Avenue United Methodist Church in Norristown, PA and joined the New Holland United Methodist Church after she moved to Garden Spot Village in 2005. Jean enjoyed quilting, reading, and gardening, with a remarkable knack for making plants thrive. She also belonged to the craft and quilting groups at Garden Spot Village.
Surviving are four children, L. Daryl (Kathie) Tryson of University City, MO, Glen (Janet) Tryson of Malden Bridge, NY, Dr. Susan (George) Joseph of Sheboygan Falls, WI, and Barbara (John) Lysy of Hudson, NH; 10 grandchildren; a great grandson; and two brothers, Lloyd (Jean) Peters of West Norriton, and Merrit (Betty) Peters of Blue Bell.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 25 at 11 am at the Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, PA 17557. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am. Interment will be in the Garden Spot Village Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Garden Spot Village Benevolent Fund, address above or to the New Holland United Methodist Church, 120 W. Main Street, New Holland, PA.
