Obituary

Jeffrey Kenneth Herr, known to family and friends as Jeff, passed away on November 29, 2025, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He was born on June 13, 1947, in Lancaster, the son of Joseph Kenneth “Ken” Herr and Corinne Effie (Thumma) Herr. Jeff grew up in New Holland, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Garden Spot High School in 1965. He went on to earn a master’s degree in Special Education from Millersville College. Jeff dedicated his career to teaching, beginning at Brecknock Elementary School. He later lived for many years in the Langhorne area, where he taught at Briston Township School District and other area schools, serving children with special needs for 35 years until his retirement in 2004. Jeff loved bringing people together. He was happiest hosting gatherings, especially swim parties at his home, and he was known for his generosity and for giving gifts to everyone. He loved to cook, garden, read, draw, and listen and dance to Motown music. Ocean City, New Jersey, held a special place in his heart, and he spent many summers there at the shore from the time he was a child. Jeff was also a tennis player at Garden Spot High School and continued to play and teach tennis after graduation. He loved his cats and cared for them dearly. Jeff is survived by his sister, Claudia S. (Herr) Beebe, and her husband, Thomas P. Beebe Jr.; his nieces and nephews, Jessica Beebe and her son, Henry; Thomas “Tommy” Beebe III, his wife, Jillian, and their children, Miles and Sloan; Kenneth “Kenny” Beebe, his wife, Caitlin, and their children, Russell, Lucy, and Wesley; Adam Seiple, his wife, Sabrina, and their children, Jacob, Ethan, Katelyn and Alex; and Amanda Gassert and her husband, Sean. He was predeceased by his father, Ken Herr; his mother, Corinne Herr; his brother, Kevin Joseph Herr; and his sister, Karen Corinne Seiple, and her husband, David Jacob Seiple.
