Joan Davidson, 86, of Ephrata, PA, passed away on May 27th, 2025, due to complications from advanced dementia. Surrounded by her loving family, Joan peacefully left this world, leaving behind beautiful memories of a life fully and joyously lived.
Born in Shamokin, PA, on October 31, 1938, Joan graduated from Chester High School before beginning her remarkable journey as a wife, mother and grandmother. She was married to Bill Davidson, for an incredible 69 devoted years, exemplifying loyalty, companionship, and unwavering love to their family and friends alike. Together they built a strong family foundation that was Joan's greatest accomplishment and pride.
Joan was a proud mother of seven, embracing motherhood with compassion, humor, and wisdom. Her nurturing spirit was evident in how she raised her children, balancing guidance with grace and imparting in them her heartfelt values. Joan’s vibrant personality captivated everyone she met, and she became known for her engaging storytelling and unmatched memory. To family and friends alike she was the consummate storyteller—always charming and delighting everyone around her
After retiring from Philadelphia Electric Company, Joan spent the happiest years of her life traveling with Bill and making memories with their growing family. Joan also adored relaxing at home, tending to her beautiful flowers, and socializing with her circle of dear friends. Her passion for classic films was remarkable—her ability to recall film plots, actors, and actresses delighted those around her.
Joan is survived by her devoted husband, Bill Davidson; children Sharon Davidson, Jack Davidson (wife Michele, sons Adam and Evan), Carol Greene (husband John, son Ryan, daughter Katherine), Debbie Bergen (husband John, son John, daughter Alexis) and Janeann Davidson. She was preceded in death by her son, Bill Davidson, and daughter, Joan Swope (surviving daughters Elizabeth and Erika). Joan leaves a cherished legacy of eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, a testament to a lifetime overflowing with love and dedication to family.
Our mother was the true matriarch of our family, and she will be dearly missed. Her strength, warmth, laughter, and caring heart live on in all of us who loved her.
A public viewing will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am at Groff High Funeral Home, 145 West Main Street, New Holland, PA 17557. A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 1:30 pm at Lawn Croft Cemetery, 1000 Ridge Road, Linwood, PA, 19061.
