Joan Marie Ross

With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Joan Marie Ross, age 74 passed away peacefully February 14, 2024, while battling Alzheimer’s and Dementia. She was born November 15, 1949, in Detroit Michigan to Edsel A. Foster and Bertie Lee Foster. She married and later moved to South Carolina to continue to raise her family. After divorcing, she eventually moved to Pennsylvania to be near her children and grandchildren.

During the early years of raising her family she loved being a homemaker. She was talented in cooking, baking, and sewing. She loved people and worked for multiple agencies as a caregiver. She was a people greeter at Walmart for many years. Her smile welcomed many people through those doors, some of which she would pray for if in need. She had a servant’s heart and a strong faith in the Lord. She loved to teach her grandchildren about Jesus, and of course she loved to spoil them too. She attended In The Light Ministries in Lancaster PA. She lived an intentional life of service to those in need and did it with love.

She said her greatest accomplishment in life was having her children. Most of all she loved her family, and she instilled values that have served us well. She will be missed and forever in our hearts.

She was predeceased by her father Edsel A foster, mother Birdie Lee Foster. She is survived by her daughters, Sheila Ulmer, husband Tim, grandchildren, Lindsey Kauffman, husband Thomas, Jordan Ulmer, Jared Ulmer, daughter Sherri Ross, grandchildren, Kailee Worm, and Courtney Worm. brother Steve Foster, wife Carol, sister, Donna Foster and Nieces and nephews.

Please join us for Joan’s celebration of life service on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Community Church of Willow Street, 212 Peach Bottom Road, Willow Street. There will be a light lunch and fellowship following the service.
