John A. Zimmerman

John A. Zimmerman, 90, of 333 Wheat Ridge Drive, Ephrata, formerly of New Holland, died Friday, February 17, 2012 at Fairmount Homes of Natural Causes. Born in Earl Twp., he was the son of the late Martin and Susanna (Burkholder) Zimmerman. His first wife, Mary H. (Seibel) Zimmerman, died June 11, 1972 and his second wife, Edna S. (Horning) Zimmerman, died Jan. 15, 2010. John was a farmer and a member of the Martindale Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference. Surviving are 12 children, Leon Zimmerman of New Holland, Grace, married to Marvin Zimmerman of East Earl, Mary Jane, married to Lee Rhodes of Patriot, OH, Carl, married to Vera Mae (Martin) Zimmerman of Richland, Roy, married to Sara (Burkholder) Zimmerman of New Holland, John, married to Cheryl (Weaver) Zimmerman of East Earl, James, married to Lillian (Fox) Zimmerman of Mount Joy, Nancy, married to Philip Witmer of Columbiana, OH, Nora, widow of Luke Witmer of Leetonia, OH, Paul, married to Debra (Martin) Zimmerman of Ephrata, Betty, married to Ray Hurst of Mifflinburg, and Dale, married to Joyce (Li) Zimmerman of Ephrata; 61 grandchildren; 129 great grandchildren; five sisters, Eva, widow of Paul Martin of Womelsdorf, Anna, married to Mervin Horst of Richland, Esther, married to Willis Good of Myerstown, Sarah, married to Raymond Zimmerman of Lebanon, and Susan, married to Paul Martin of Stevens; a brother, Paul, married to Lena (Burkholder) Zimmerman of Ephrata; and a sister-in-law, Vera Zimmerman of Stevens. Preceding him in death are three brothers, Elmer, Eli, and Martin Zimmerman; two sisters, Mary and Elsie Zimmerman; two granddaughters; and two great granddaughters. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 22 at 9 am at Fairmount Homes Wheat Ridge Chapel, 333 Wheat Ridge Drive, Ephrata, with further services at 9:30 am at the Weaverland Mennonite Church with the Bishop Amos G. Martin, Amos K. Martin, Ivan B. Hurst, and E. Merle Nolt officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 21 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Fairmount Homes Wheat Ridge Chapel. Kindly omit flowers. Arrangements by Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill.
