John B. Brendle

John B. Brendle

John Brendle, Jr., of New Holland, PA, died at Lancaster General Hospital on Thursday, May 16, 2013, following a brief illness. He is survived by his wife Rosaline (Sweigart) Brendle with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.

Born in Martindale, he was the son of the late John G. Brendle and Elizabeth (Weber). He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He was a member of Charles Ludwig VFW Post #7362, New Holland.

John was machinist and tool and die maker at Sperry New Holland, retiring in 1988. He also worked for 25 years for N.A.P.A. in New Holland.

He was a member of the Bee Tree Hunting Club, Cedar Run, Lycoming County, and the Penn Dutch Rod & Gun Club. He also enjoyed fishing at Ocean City, MD, and hunting. He bowled with the Sr. Citizens Bowling League, Blue Ball, and in earlier years played softball. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Flyers.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are his sons Terry L., married to Patricia Brendle, Ephrata, and Donald R., married to Karen Brendle, New Holland, five grandchildren, a great grandson, and his sisters, Mary Ellen married to Samuel Stoltzfus, New Holland, and Carolyn, married to Philip Harting, Adamstown.
