John D. Brubaker

John D. Brubaker, 87, of 1622 Bowmansville Road, Mohnton, died at his home on Saturday, April 14, 2012.

Born in East Earl Twp., he was the son of the late Daniel and Maggie (Shirk) Brubaker. He was married 59 years on Jan. 13 to Alta (Zimmerman) Brubaker. His first wife, Esther (Shirk) Brubaker, died July 4, 1951.

John retired as a farmer and then worked as a carpenter for many years. He was a member of the Bowmansville Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.

Surviving in addition to his wife are 13 children, Ivan, married to Mary (Weaver) Brubaker of Canandaigua, NY, Irvin, married to Naomi (Brubacher) Brubaker of Narvon, Allen, married to Lydia Ann (Martin) Brubaker of Narvon, Reuben, married to Dorcas (Sauder) Brubaker of Mohnton, Raymond, married to Emma (Martin) Brubaker of Denver, Paul, married to Alda (Martin) Brubaker of Colby, WI, Adin, married to Marian (Martin) Brubaker of Mohnton, Melvin, married to Lydia Ann (Shirk) Brubaker of East Earl, Warren, married to Mary (Shirk) Brubaker of East Earl, Miriam, married to Edwin Newswanger of Narvon, Elam, married to Norma (Zimmerman) Brubaker of Mohnton, Irene, married to Isaac Burkholder of Kutztown, and Erma, married to Lamar Zimmerman of Charles City, IA; 69 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and four sisters, Martha, married to Levi Martin of Morgantown, Lizzie Sensenig of Mifflinburg, Anna Newswanger of Narvon, and Mabel Hursh of New Holland.

Preceding him in death are two sons, Harlan and Isaac; four grandchildren; four brothers, Menno, Amos, Eli, and Wayne; and four sisters, Minnie Brubaker, Katie Brubaker, Ada Martin, and Leah Brubaker.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 20 at 9 am at the home of Melvin Brubaker, 429 Brown Road, East Earl with further services at 9:30 am at the Weaverland Mennonite Church with the Bishop Elam Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held on Thursday, April 19 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the late home, 1622 Bowmansville Road, Mohnton. Kindly omit flowers.
