John Clancy, 60, longtime Lancaster, PA resident who spent his childhood in Newtown Square, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 28.
John brought joy to people through cooking for much of his life. He enjoyed working in a variety of kitchens over the years- from Florida’s five-star resorts to friends’ local businesses. His Sunday soups brightened many people’s weekends, whether he shared in person or dropped off a container .”Do more of what makes you happy.”
The Grateful Dead’s music comforted John during tough times brought on by addiction. Classic rock buoyed him during good times too. He loved sharing memories he made from the years he attended shows across the country. Now, he can “rest my bones.”
John is survived by his brother, Michael, and family, as well as many beloved cousins. His extended relatives warmed his heart. He will also be missed by friends who became family. He shared his love and kindness with so many during his ups and downs.
“Fare you well, fare you well, I love you more than words can tell.”
No formal service will be held. His ashes will be placed near his mother’s, Trudy’s, at Garden Spot Village.
In John’s memory, please listen to a Grateful Dead song, and do something kind for a friend or stranger. “ May the four winds blow you home.”
