John David Weaver

John D. Weaver, 92, formerly of East Earl, a resident of Lincoln Christian Home, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024.

John was married 70 years to Alta S. Zimmerman Weaver. Born in Ephrata, he was the son of the late Samuel O. and Mary Elizabeth Zimmerman Weaver.

He was a member of the Bowmansville Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference. He retired from Evans Burial Vaults after 32 years of employment. For many years he had a side business of shearing sheep and hauling calves for farmers in the area. He also did driving for many locals.

Surviving besides his wife are four sons, Eugene husband of Elaine Martin Weaver of Stevens, John David husband of Silvia Weaver Weaver of Denver, Wilmer husband of Carolyn Brubacher Weaver of Narvon, and Lynford husband of Alta Hoover Weaver of Pine Grove; three daughters, Ruth Ann wife of Walter Zeiset of Manheim, Mary wife of Steve Nolt of East Earl, and Grace wife of David Gruver of Oxford; 35 grandchildren, 68 great grandchildren; and three brothers, Christian husband of Mary Weaver of Leola, Samuel, Jr., husband of Miriam Weaver of Ephrata, and Aaron husband of Ruth Weaver of Penn Yan, NY. He was preceded in death by three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and six siblings, Ivan Weaver, Anna Mary Fox, Margaret Fox, Sarah Martin, Susie Zimmerman and Esther Leinbach.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 13, at 9:30 A.M. at Bowmansville Mennonite Church, 913 Oaklyn Drive, Narvon, PA with Bishop Leon S. Zimmerman officiating, Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. Viewings will be held on Wednesday, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Martindale Mennonite Fellowship Center, 352 Martindale Road, Ephrata, PA.
