John Elko, 86, of 1 Ashlea Village, New Holland, died Saturday, June 1 at Hospice and Community Care – Lancaster. His wife, Helen (Nida) Elko survives.
Born in Windber, PA he was the son of the late Susan (Chappie) and Mike Elko, Jr.
During World War II, John served in the Army.
John was a design draftsman for AMP, Inc., retiring in 1988.
John was an avid bowler and enjoyed bus trips to Atlantic City.
He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, he is survived by three children: Joyce Phillips partner of Denny Danner, New Holland; Cathy married to Dale Eisenberger, Strasburg; David married to Linn Elko, Newport, VT; six grandchildren: Amy, Brett, Jodi, Michael, Joshua, Justin; and two sisters: Mildred married to Clair Amand, Lititz and Carol Sheffer, Gettysburg.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held on at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, New Holland at the convenience of the family. Burial in Memory Gardens. Kindly omit flowers.
