John J. “Tom” Haas, 79, of East Earl, died at his home on Saturday, June 4, 2016.
Born in East Earl, he was the son of the late J. Walter and Margaret (Boley) Haas. He was married 57 years on Jan. 24 to Alletah (Lewis) Haas.
Tom retired in 2001 as a truck driver for New Holland Concrete after more than 20 years of service. During the Vietnam Era he served in the US Army.
He was a member of the Beartown Sportsman Association. In his younger years he enjoyed racing motorcycles and playing softball. He has always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Dean Haas of East Earl; two brothers, Warren “Butch”, married to Janis Haas of Narvon, and George, married to Elaine Haas of East Earl; and a sister, Hazel Whitehead of Ephrata.
Preceding him in death are three sisters and a brother, Thelma Ludwig, Vera Jane Haas, Harry Haas, and Faye Tshudy.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 8 at 10 am at Bridgeville E.C. Cemetery with the Reverend Kirk Wolfe officiating. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 7, from 6-8 pm, at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland.
