John I. Zimmerman

John I. Zimmerman, 77, of 998 Reading Rd., Narvon, died Wednesday, November 14 at his home. His wife, Lizzie H. (Martin) Zimmerman, survives.


Born in Earl Twp., he was the son of the late Isaac W. and Katie (Leinbach) Zimmerman.


He was a retired farmer and a member of Bowmansville Old Order Mennonite Church.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by 10 children: Ellen M. married to Alvin Zimmerman, Thorp, WI; Anna M. married to Eugene N. Hoover, Dundee, NY; Reuben M. married to Eunice (Stauffer) Zimmerman, Withee, WI; Elizabeth M. married to Edward N. Hoover, Ionia, IA; Ada Mae married to Allen N. Reiff, Withee, WI; Lucinda M. married to Marlin N. Hoover, East Earl; Wilma M. married to Leon R. Nolt, Dundee, NY; Katie M. married to Samuel W. Leinbach, Thorp, WI; John Isaac, Jr. married to Katie (Leinbach) Zimmerman, East Earl and Edward M. married to Elizabeth (Leinbach) Zimmerman, Owen, WI; 76 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; seven siblings: Irvin married to Mabel (Zimmerman) Zimmerman, Versailles, MO; Allen Zimmerman, East Earl; Phares married to Ada (Kilmer) Zimmerman, Millmont; Lucinda married to Allen Newswanger, New Holland; Reuben married to Emma (Shirk) Zimmerman, Barnett, MO; Jason married to Ada Mae (Weaver) Zimmerman, East Earl; and Leah Martin, Shiloh, OH.


He was preceded in death by a daughter Mary M. Zimmerman; brothers Amzie and Christian Zimmerman, a sister Fannie Shirk, two grandchildren and a great grandchild.


His funeral will be held on Monday, November 19 at 9 AM at his late home with further services at 9:30 AM at the Bowmansville Mennonite Church with Bishop Elam Zimmerman officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at the late home on Sunday from 2 – 4 PM and 6 – 8 PM. Kindly omit flowers. The Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill is in charge of arrangements.
