John E. Kauffman

John E. Kauffman Sr., 78, of Morgantown, passed away on May 8, 2024 in his residence.

Born in Bird in Hand, he was the son of the late Benjamin M. and Elizabeth (Esh) Kauffman.

He was the husband of the late Lavina K. (Lapp) Kauffman, with whom he married on November 3, 1966 and shared almost 56 years of marriage until the time of her passing on September 19, 2022.

He was a member of the Church at Cross Keys and was first employed as a farmer, then he owned Valley View Gardens Greenhouse from 1987 to 1996 and was in furniture sales in his later years. He was a very artistic person, completing many paintings, he loved flowers and loved to spend time with loved ones.

John is survived by eight children: Wilmer husband of Barbara Esh Kauffman, Penn Yan, NY, Elizabeth wife of Eli King, Morgantown, Susie wife of Stevie King, Lancaster, Benjamin husband of Rachel Stoltzfus Kauffman, Mohnton, Chris husband of Emma Stoltzfus Kauffman, Lancaster, Amos husband of Rachel Stoltzfus Kauffman, Lesvos, Greece, John husband of Rebecca Beiler Kauffman, Paradise, Mary wife of David Allgyer, Morgantown, 61 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers: Benjamin husband of Elsie King Kauffman, Gratz, PA and Elam husband of Mary Stoltzfus of New York and sisters: Fannie widow of Daniel Stoltzfoos, Leola and Priscilla wife of Stevie Fisher, Gratz, PA.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson and 2 great-grandsons and siblings: Malinda, Daniel, Elmer and Samuel.

An open funeral will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Charity Christian Fellowship, 59 S Groffdale Road, Leola. Interment will be in Petra Memorial Park. A viewing will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at The Church at Cross Keys, 3656 Old Philadelphia Pike, Gordonville.
