John T. “Jack” Smalley, 82, of New Holland, formerly of Aldan, died Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Garden Spot Village.
Born in Winthrop, MA, he was the son of the late Harrington and Alice (Melvin) Smalley. He was married 62 years on July 30 to Phillis (Norris) Smalley.
Jack worked as a machinist for Westinghouse in South Philadelphia, then for Ridley Precision Tool Co. in Ridley Park, and then self-employed for Aldan Precision from 1964 until his retirement in 2009.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Downingtown.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four children, Deborah, married to Don Slider of Denver, John Smalley of Morgantown, Mark Smalley of Mohnton, and Steven, married to Becky (Bean) Smalley of Denver; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and a sister, Carolyn of Belmont, TX.
Preceding him in death is a brother, Harrington “Sonny” Smalley.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 26 at 11 am at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland with Chaplain Chet Yoder officiating. Interment will be in Valley Forge Memorial Garden. Viewing will be held on Thursday, at the Chapel, from 10-11 am.
