John David Smucker

John David Smucker, 25, of Philadelphia, formerly of Narvon, died Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Lancaster General Hospital.

Born in Caernarvon Twp., he was the son of Christian L. Smucker, Sr. and Naomi (King) Smucker of Narvon.

John graduated from Garden Spot High School and received a B. A. with honors in Communications and Digital Media from Albright College. Currently, he was working as an account manager at Bodek & Rhodes, in Philadelphia.

He was a beloved son, brother, and friend. John enjoyed playing his guitar, writing music and poetry, and was dearly loved by his nieces and nephews.

Surviving in addition to his parents are six siblings: Chester married to Cindy (Persaud) Smucker, Ephrata; Christian Smucker, Jr. married to Sofie (De Coster) Smucker, New Holland; Rebecca married to Daryl Zimmerman, Reading; Joel married to Marion (Mwaura) Smucker, Ephrata; Thomas Smucker, engaged to Maria Hartzler, Stevens; Joanna married to Jonathan Smit, Lancaster, a paternal grandmother, Fannie B. Smucker, Narvon; and 12 nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, May 8 at 10 a.m. at Petra Christian Fellowship, Airport Rd. New Holland. Interment will be in Mast Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 5 – 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 – 10 a.m. The Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill is in charge of arrangements.
